Laird J. Markland has one of the longest tenures within MVBA, beginning his career with the firm thirty-seven years ago and dedicated himself to governmental collections and property tax revenue consultations ever since. While in college, he took an immense interest in law and management focusing his studies on legal and business management courses. This passion led him directly to MVBA, where he has worked with hundreds of clients to optimize their collections process to serve both legal and management needs. Laird is enthusiastic and driven to succeed with his client accounts, bringing with him a work ethic that is second to none. His natural leadership and skill in public speaking, courtesy of Dale Carnegie’s training program, has helped him to rise to the challenge of two critical roles within MVBA’s offices.
As a Senior Legal Assistant for the Tax Department, Laird is responsible for supervising his field office, overseeing production, managing the case docket, conducting property tax sales, and managing client relationships. In the role of Regional Director Business Development, he serves the Fines and Fees Department clientele from initial consultation throughout the course of their tenure with MVBA. He is directly responsible for growing his division through a comprehensive approach in serving clients that includes assessments, performance reviews, and revenue optimization – helping clients achieve their desired outcomes with their collections programs. As an expert in client services, he helps clients to achieve a more streamlined and effective process for collections and helping each court with the technical roll-out of their program.
